LEAP Bridge Steel Help

Stiffener Definition

The Stiffener Definition command provides the means to define various types of transverse stiffeners.

The types can be a cross frame/diaphragm connection plate, transverse shear stiffener and bearing stiffener. The stiffener will appear in the graphic window as it is being defined. The function that a stiffener serves in the bridge model is a function of where it is located in the bridge.

LEAP Bridge Steel also supports longitudinal stiffeners. Longitudinal stiffeners are entered by selecting Stiffener Type > Longitudinal in the Stiffener location command.

LEAP Bridge Steel currently does not design stiffeners. Their use is primarily for determination of shear resistance of the main members and fatigue checking.
